چکیده
Here we present a four-channel model that incorporates magnetically tunable Feshbach resonance in system of three atoms interact via pairwise van der Waals interactions. Our method is designed to recent experiments where the tunability scattering length has been used study three-body Efimov states, which appear limit diverging two-body length. Using this model, calculate adiabatic and effective potential curves how strength (or width) affects connected effect. We find position repulsive barrier, explain so-called universality broad resonances, slightly shifted as narrow approached shift correlated appearance two avoided crossings energy landscape. More importantly, attractive well markedly upward extremely shallow for narrowest resonance. argue behavior breakdown weak (narrow) resonances.

Van der Waals interactions with soft interfaces
Many naturally occurring microbiological and synthetic polymer systems have soft interfaces due, e.g., to the presence of polymer brushes at the surfaces. The initial interactions (before contact) in such systems are typically physical rather than chemical in origin, e.g. electrostatic or van der Waals forces. We calculate the form of the summed van der Waals interaction energies UHS and USS be...
متن کاملvan der Waals interactions across stratified media.
Working at the Lifshitz level, we investigate the van der Waals interactions across a series of layers with a periodic motif. We derive the complete form of the van der Waals interaction as an explicit function of the number of periodic layers. We then compare our result with an approximation based on an anisotropic-continuum representation of the stratified medium. Satisfactory agreement betwe...
متن کاملScaling laws for van der Waals interactions in nanostructured materials
Van der Waals interactions have a fundamental role in biology, physics and chemistry, in particular in the self-assembly and the ensuing function of nanostructured materials. Here we utilize an efficient microscopic method to demonstrate that van der Waals interactions in nanomaterials act at distances greater than typically assumed, and can be characterized by different scaling laws depending ...
متن کاملOptimal spline cutoffs for Coulomb and van der Waals interactions
Traditional spline cutoffs of the long-ranged Coulomb interaction gives large errors in the forces which lead to seriously distorted structures. These errors can be drastically reduced (by a factor of 7) by optimally adjusting the cutoffs parameters. Applying to a 453-atom dendrimer, the visibly distorted structure is improved substantially (the rms coordinate deviation is reduced from 1.15 to0...
